Officially founded in 2010, Hubvine can have its beginnings traced back to some random discussions among friends back in 2008. Currently in Beta, Hubvine is steadily moving forward with new, innovative ideas on how to promote events and connect communities.
Before Hubvine, we were frustrated with the tools available for promoting events. For starters, the best solution we could find for listing events in a calendar format on websites was Google Calendar. It worked well enough, but it wasn't designed for "real" events—events that needed to be promoted, be supported with a landing page, able to deal with registrations, and all of that.
Furthermore, if we wanted to publish an event to a community calendar we had to conform to as many different arbitrary rules as there were calendars we wanted to publish to. As one PR person described it during our research phase, "promoting events through community calendars is—at best—frustrating, but usually borders towards soul-sucking. But it's completely necessary."
We discovered those who have community calendars also had frustrations. In fact, one representative from a local Chamber of Commerce told us they decided not to have a community calendar because they didn't have a solution to deal with the volume of requests.
And thus, Hubvine was created to help people share ideas, and collaborate, empowering people to connect through online media so we can also connect in real life, help get your events realized and noticed, and help community organizations provide real value to their members.
